Tuscany region of Italy, is very particular with both scenic beauties and historical places. Although the most famous city of this region is Florence, it has other different cities that are in Unesco World Heritage list, like Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano.

You can buy tickets from Florence train station to Pisa for 7E but for a more efficient trip I strongly recommend you to go with a tour. You can arrange your tour from touristinfo in Florence. Also you can participate into other tours like a tour to Chianti which is famous for its wine.
Pisa her ne kadar Eğik Kule'yle (the Leaning Tower) meşhur olan bir şehir olsa da kulenin bulunduğu meydan The Miracle Square Unesco'nun kültür mirası listesinde. Meydanda bir Katedral, bir müze ve bir opera var. Eğik kule dahil gezmek istediğiniz binalar için bilet gerekiyor. Kuleye çıkış 15€. Katedral Pazar sabahları ayin nedeniyle ücretsiz.
Pisa, even it is famous for the Leaning Tower, the square that the tower is founded, the Miracla Square is also in Unesco World Heritage list. On the square, there's a cathedral, a museum and an opera. You need tickets to see the buildings. The ticket for leaning tower is 15 €. The cathedral is free on Sunday mornings because of the holy mass.
Eğik Kule'nin, ya da bizim bildiğimiz adıyla Pisa Kulesi'nin, yapımı 200 yılda tamamlanmış. İlk 3 katı yapıldıktan sonra bina eğilmeye başladığı için yapımı durdurulmuş, 100 yıl sonra inşaata devam edilmiş. Pisa şehrinde doğan Gallilei de deneylerinin bir kısmını burda gerçekleştirmiş. ( 1564 önemli bir tarih. Gallilei'nin doğum yılı olan bu tarihte, Michelangelo Roma'da vefat etmiş.) Merak etmeyin, kule yıkılmayacak, gerekli önlemler çoktan alınmış.
It took 200 years to complete the Leaning Tower. After construction of the first three floors, the tower started to lean then the construction stopped. After 100 years construction was continued. Galilein who was born in Pisa city made some of his experiments on this tower. (1564 is a really important year. Galillei was born in 1564 in Pisa and Michelangelo passed away in Rome in the same year.) And don't worry, the tower is not going to crush down, the preventions are already done.

Around the square, there are markets that you can buy some souveniers. But the sellers are not used to bargaining, in the case of an offer, they can be shocked and laugh. Before having some photos with the Leaning Tower, I advise you to have a look at the tourists that are posing as if they are holding the tower, you can see many funny things.
Bir diğer şehir San Gimignano, benim en beğendiğim şehirlerden biri oldu. Bu şehri özel kılan ve Unesco Dünya Mirası listesine alınmasını sağlayan tarihi merkezindeki kuleler. Kuleleri sebebiyle bu şehir "kulelerin şehri", "kule ormanı" ya da "ortaçağ'ın Manhattan'ı" olarak da anılıyor. Ortaçağda 70'den fazla kule varken 14 tanesi günümüze kadar ayakta kalabilmiş.
Another city, San Gimignano, is one of the my favorite places. What make this city speacial and to be in Unesco World Heritage list are the towers in the historical centre. Because of the towers, they call this city as "city of the towers", "forest of the towers" or "Manhattan of the middle era". 14 of the 70 towers could have reached reach to our day.
Ancak bu şehir kulelerden başka şeyleriyle de meşhur. Mesela Vernaccia şarabı... Ve tabi ki bu şaraptan üretilmiş dondurma... Ayrıca bu şehir safranıyla da meşhur. Şaşırtıcı(!) ama şehirde safranlı dondurma görmedim. Buldukları herşeyle enfes dondurmalar üreten İtalyanlar bunu nasıl kaçırmışlar?? Belki de ben görmemişimdir...
But this city is also famous for different things. Like Vernaccia wine.And of course the gelato that is made of this wine... And saffron... Surprisingly they don't have saffron gelato. How can Italians miss this? May be i miss it...

Bu yazıda bahsedeceğim son şehir, Siena, oldukça farklı geleneklere sahip bir yer. Binalar tuğladan yapıldığı için bütün şehir kırmızı renkte. Şehrin sembolü iki yavrusuyla birlikte bir dişi kurt, şehrin birçok yerinde dişikurt heykellerini görebilirsiniz.
The last city that I am going to write about, Siena, is a city with different traditions. Every building in the city is made from brick so that the city is al red. The symbol of the city is a shewolf, you can see the symbol in different places.
Siena'da 17 mahalle (contrara) var. Her mahallenin kendi sembolü, bayrağı, kilisesi ve müzesi var. Eğer Siena'da doğduysan önce mahallene, sonra Siena'ya sonra İtalya'ya aitsindir. Biraz fazla mahallelerine düşkün bu insanlar, hatta yakın zamana kadar farklı mahalleden kız almak da yasakmış.
In Siena there are 17 neighborhoods, which are known as contrara. Each neighborhood have its own symbol, flag, church and museum. If you are born in Siena, first you are belong to your contrara, then to Siena and then to Italu. Those people are very devoted to their neighborhoods, even they couldn't get married with a person from a different contrara.
Siena'nın en meşhur şeyi Palio olarak da bilinen at yarışları. Sene de iki kez yapılan bu at yarışlarına 10 at katılıyor. Atların kafalarında ait oldukları mahallenin sembolü oluyor. Yarışlardan önce atlar mahalle kilisesinde kutsanıyor! Kurallar bizim bildiğimiz at yarışlarından oldukça farklı. Atın başında mahalle sembolü bulunduğu sürece jokey düşse bile at yarışa devam edebiliyor. Sadece 2 dk süren bu at yarışlarının kutlamaları günler öncesinden başlayıp günler sonrasına devam ediyor. Ödül ise bir kupa, kazanan mahalle ödülü kendi müzesine koyuyor. Bu yarışlar 2 Temmuz ve 16 Ağustos tarihlerinde, Piazza del Campo'da yapılıyor. Bilet fiyatları 3000€'a kadar çıkabiliyor.
The most famous thing of Siena is the horse racing called Palio. 10 horses are participated to the racings that are done twice a year. There are symbolls of the contraras that the horses are belong on head of each horse. Before the racings, the horses are blessed in the church of their contrara.! The rules are different then the horse racings that we know. The horse can continue to the racing as long as it has the symbol on his head, even if the jokey falls. Those racings last for 2 minutes but the celebrations start a couple of days earlier and end a couple of days later. The prize is a cup, the winner contrara puts the cup to its museum. Those racings are on 2 July and 16 August, at Piazza del Campo every year. The tickets can even be 3000€.

Eğer imkanınız varsa ve İtalya'yı pek de bilinmeyen yerleriyle görmek istiyorsanız Toscana turu yapabilirsiniz. Toscana'da gidebildiğim ve size anlatabildiğim şehirlerden başka Dünya Mirası listesine girebilmiş başka şehirler de var, hatta Toscana bu açıdan oldukça zengin. Ama yine de ben Toscana deyince yemyeşil ovaları, sarı çiçekleri hatırlayacağım. Oldukça huzurlu bir yer Toscana.
If you have the oppurtunity and if you want to see Italy with unknowns you can have a Tuscany trip. There are more in Tuscany then i could go and i could write about, there are other cities in World Heritage list. But still i will remember Tuscany with green prairie and yellow flowers. Tuscanny is a place with peace of mind.
