Roma/Rome

     İtalya'nın en güzel şehrini yazmak için İtalya'daki günlerimin bitmesini bekledim. Şimdi yazdığım her cümlede geri dönüp, yaşadığım her duyguyu tekrar yaşayıp, attığım her adımı tekrar atacağım. Bugün Roma'yı yazıyorum ve size bu şehre aşık olacağınızın garantisini veriyorum.

     I waited for expiration of my days in Italy to write about the most beautiful city of Italy. Now, in every sentence i write, i'll look back, again i'll feel every emotion that i had and again i'll live every step i had. Today i am writing about Rome and i guarantee that you'll fall in love.

     Öyle bir yer ki Roma, ara sokaklarda yürürken karşınıza tahmin edemeyeceğiniz güzellikte tarihi eserler çıkıyor. Araba kullanırken şarkı söylüyorsunuz, sola sinyal verip Colosseum'un etrafından dönüp yolunuza devam ediyorsunuz. Gece arkadaşlarınızla buluşmak istiyorsunuz ve "Hadi, Castel Sant'Angelo'nun önünde buluşalım." diyorsunuz. İşte böyle birşey Roma'da yaşamak, Piazza Spagna'da merdivenlerde oturup dinlenmek, Cafe Greco'da kahve içmek... Ve bunları günlük hayatın bir parçası olarak yaşamak...


     Rome is such a place that, while you are walking in the cross streets, you can see adorable historical artifacts. You are singing while you are driving, signaling to left and turning around Colosseum and going on your way. You want to go out with your friends and you are arranging a meeting in front of Castel Sant'Angelo. This how living in Rome is, sitting on the stairs of Piazza Spagna, having your coffee in Cafe Greco... And all of these are your daily routines...


     Roma'da neler yapılması gerektiğini, nerelerin görülmesini gerektiğini herkes az çok bilir. Ben sadece ilginç yönleriyle Roma'dan kısaca bahsetmek istiyorum. 


     Everyone knows what to do, where to see in Rome. I just want to tell you some interesting things about Rome.

      Vatikan, dünyanın en küçük ülkesi. Bir ülke olduğu için, polisten postahaneye, bir ülkenin sahip olduğu herşeye sahip. Roma Vatikan arasında tam beş sınır kapısı ve 400 metrelik dünyanın en kısa uluslararası tren hattı var. Bu tren yolu yılda sadece üç kez kullanılıyor çünkü papanın özel helikopteri var, bu helikopteriyle Roma havaalanlarına gidiyor. 
     St. Peter's Basilica, dünyanın en büyük kilisesi ama bu kiliseyi asıl özel yapan mimarisindeki optik ilüzyon... Kilisenin içindeki herşey göründüğünden daha büyük ve bunu ancak heykellerin yanlarına yaklaştığınızda anlıyorsunuz. 
      Vatikan Müzesi, her ayın son Pazar günü ücretsiz. Ancak kuyruğu tahmin edemezsiniz. Ben size paraya kıyıp rehberle gezmenizi öneririm. 


     Vatican City is the smallest country in this world. Just because it is a country, it has everything that a country has, from constabulary to postoffice. Between Vatican City and Rome there are five border gates and the shortest international train line that is 400 m long. This line is just used for three times a year because the pope has his own helicopter and he can go to Rome airports with it.
     St. Peter's Basilica is the biggest church is this world but what makes this church unique is the optic illusion that it has. Everything in this church is bigger than they seem but you only can understand this when you go near them.
     Vatican Museum is free on every last Sunday of the month but you can't imagine about the queue. I personally recommend you to pay more and visit the museum with a guide.

        Bir başka rehberle gezilmesi gerektiğini düşündüğüm yapı Colesseum ve Roman Forum. Colesseum'dan geriye tüm binanın %38 kalmış. Binanın yapım sekiz yılda tamamlanmış. Arenada tam yirmi sekiz kapı var ve gladyatörler hangi kapıdan ne geleceğini bilmiyorlar! Oldukça geniş bir alana yayılmış Roma İmparatorluğu'nun farklı topraklarından gelen farklı egzotik hayvanlar... 
  
     Another artifact that i think you should visit with a guide is Colesseum and Forum Romana. Only 38% of Colesseum is survived to our day. It was completed in eight years. In the arena, there are 28 doors and the gladiators don't know what is going to come and where it is going to come! Different egzotic animals from all over the Roman Empire.

      Peki başka? Roma'nın her anı keyiftir. Ucuza yemek yemek için önereceğim yer Trastevere. Güzel bir akşam yemeğini Roma standartlarına göre çok iyi bir fiyata halledebilirsiniz. Öğle yemekleri içinse önereceğim bir süpermarketten alacağınız sandviçi Piazza Navona'da yemeniz. Piazza Navona, Roma'da en sevdiğim meydanlardan biri. Günün her saati hareketli bir meydan. Bir yandan atıştırıp bir yandan sokak sanatçılarını izleyebilirsiniz. Bar del Fico, Cul de Sac gibi meşhur mekanlar da bu meydana çok yakın. Piazza Campo dei Fiori ve Piazza Spagna da dinlenebileceğiniz güzel mekanlar.


     And what else? In Rome every moment is a pleasure. The place that i recommend for cheap food is Trastevere. You can have a nice dinner cheaper than Roman standarts. For lunch, i recommend you to have a sandwich from a supermarket and eat it in Piazza Navona. Piazza Navona, is one of my favoruite squares in Rome. It is always active. While you are eating you can watch street artists. Some famous places like Bar del Fico and Cul de Sac are close to this Square. Piazza Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Spagna are also good places to see and have a rest.

     Ve güzel olduğu kadar uzun ve yorucu bir günün ardından dinlenmek, ya da bir başka deyişle siesta yapmak isterseniz kendinizi Roma'nın birbirinden güzel parklarına atabilirsiniz. Villa Borghese, Gianicolo, portakallarıyla ve bakıldığı zaman St. Peter's Bazilika'nın görüldüğü anahtar deliğiyle meşhur Gardino degli Aranci bunlardan sadece bazıları.

     And after a day that is beautiful but also tiring, if you want to have a rest or in other words siesta, you can go to beautiful parks of Rome. Villa Borghese, Gianicolo and Gardino degli Aranci, which is famous for its oranges and the key hole that you see St. Peter's Basilica when you look through, are just some of them.

     Roma'dan dondurma yemeden dönmek olmaz! Gelateria del Teatro pek çok turistin görmeden döneceği bir mekan. Oldukça ilginç lezzetleriyle meşhur. Peynirli-vişneli-birberiyeli dondurmadan ballı-limonlu-adaçaylı dondurmaya birbirinden farklı ve başka yerde yiyemeyeceğiniz dondurmayı deneyebilirsiniz. İstanbul'da da şubesi olsa da Roma'da mutlaka denenmesi gereken bir başka adres Giolitti.Eğer yolunuz Della Palma'ya düşerse neli dondurma yiyeceğinizi seçmekte çok zorlanacağınızı şimdiden söyleyeyim, yüz çeşit dondurma arasından üç çeşit seçmek zor iş! Evet, tam yüz çeşit dondurmaları var!

     You can't leave Rome without eating gelato. Gelateria del Teatro is a place that lots of tourists miss. It is famous for interesting flavors. From cheese-cherry-rosemary to honey-lemon-sage you can have different and unique flavors. Even though it has branches in Istanbul and all over the world, another "have to try" address is Giolitti. And if you go to Della Palma, i can tell you that you'll have hard times to decide your flavors, choosing three flavors between 100 flavors is not easy! Yes, they have 100 flavors!

          Ve tabi ki Fontana di Trevi... Herkesin sırtını dönüp, sol omzunun üstünden para attığı ve dilek dilediği çeşme... Ama kimsenin haberi yok ki o çeşmede dilenen dilek hayatının aşkını bulmak değil, Roma'ya tekrar gelebilmektir. Bunu o kadar gönülden diledim ki 1 centlerden oluşan bir servet bıraktım... Roma'ya tekrar gitmek için sabırsızlanıyorum!


     And of course Fontana di Trevi... The place that everyone throws money over their shoulders and makes a wish. But noone knows that the wish must be coming back to Rome, not finding the big love as most of the people do. I wish going back to Rome so much that i left a treasure made of 1 cents to the fountain. I am looking forward to going back to Rome!
